Arunthathi Roy and the Tranquilizer called nationalism

This is not my own work. This article is a translation of Mr.Ilavarasan's article. Please click on the link for the ORIGINAL WORK in Tamil version. I tried my level best to preserve  Mr. Ilavarasan's work. some might have lost in translation. Please Excuse!

Wanna explain nationalism? It can be described as the attachment of the citizen of a country. If you have a deep look into - it may be explained as the attachment that one may possess with his fellow citizen, co-speaker of his language or with his race. In this context, if we look into the Indian nationalism, we find the exhibition of a vacuum. If we presume the nationalism that we have sweared of fraternity with the other linguistic brethren, truly that turns to be the mockery of Nationalism!!!    Indian nationalism is a tranquilizer which is the secret behind the North Indian medias that exaggerate the people caught into the Taj Hostage and suppress the fact of dying fishermen of Tamilnadu, the reasons which turned the housewives of Kashmiris to be revolutionaries, the reasons brought the Maoist uprise in East India and the East Indian women whom were molested by their national Army.
This is no secret- in fact known to everyone.
These happen when the majority wants to subjugate the minority for the recognition of their due (!) place.  This is the secret behind the Indian communists’ opposition against the American invasion into Iraq, but their silence to the atrocities against their fellow citizens. If we go further into Indian nationalism, it is pretty against the loud slogan of ‘Unity in diversity’.
May it be the Cauvery issue-the life nerve of Tamil peasants, or Mullaperiyar issue, the Kashmir issue- the Indian imperialism in the cover of nationalism (a terrific tranquiliser) successfully forbids the minorities from complaining and agitating. To perpetuate the tranquiliser, India needs rivals (Pakistan, China) at least in games, like Cricket. Right from the Ayothya issue to the Cauvery disputes, it is the nationalism which makes people forget and muffle the memories. The ire of the Indian public upon Pakistan and china, which is caused by the Indian media successfully conceal the atrocities and biased administration of Indian government on its own people. The motive of the Indian media, which describe the Cricket match against Pakistan like a world war, is to divert the people’s ire towards aliens from towards the handicapped Indian government. The media successfully divert the people’s anger and helps for the perpetuation of Indian imperialism. To say it right, we the nationalised people are also one of the reasons behind the atrocities in Kashmir, dying tamil fishermen and suppressed north-east. The secret behind the unison of Congress and the BJP, in Kashmir issue is very simple. Both need Kashmir for their survival in politics-or else it would be unmanageable to deal with the internal frictions. The Indian government has never tried true efforts to resolve the decadal Kashmir issue, rather wanted to perpetuate it. Because, the true enemy of Indians, that is India, is concealed behind the India’s enemy, Pakistan- in the Kashmir smokescreen. If we take a deep look into it, we may find that India have been always concerned on the kashmiri land, not the people. If India were the country that patronizes its citizen, kashmiri housewives and children wouldn’t have been brought to street to pelt against the military earthmovers. The stone pelting by the civilians clearly portrays us the past atrocities by Indian forces in Kashmir.
The pride tamils were the only people challenged the Hindi invasion into their domain. The Indian apathy towards tamils is ever since the anti-hindi agitations. Since once the leaders of anti-hindi agitations, now lick the North Indian boots for their political survival, fishermen deaths in palk strait have become everyday news-like a weather report. Indian Home minister very lightly states that it is impossible to save the fishermen crossing borders. But…. It is impossible to spot the borderline in the sea Mr.Home Minister!!! Further, no international law sanctions firing& killing of cross-borders. Before you count the dead bodies of fishermen, before you understand the apathy of Home ministry, the media make you count the Indian medals in the commonwealth games. When one third of citizens are below poverty line, with a torn economy, the Indian media exaggerate and enforce self pride to the public upon the rupee symbol- we resonantly nod our heads and forget the bloodsheds. People!!.. it doesn’t impart direct influence on you now. Some fishermen die somewhere. But it is not far to impart direct influence and it is already commenced by the Indian government in the extinction of tigers of Tamil eelam.
Hitherto untouched by military boots, south India will soon experience the atrocities on behest of Chinese presence in Srilanka. A great danger is on its way to the south Indians like what happened to the Kashmiris. The danger would be greater than that of the Chinese aggression. Human rights would be denied-under emergency situations. South India, particularly Tamilnadu will experience the same that the Kashmiris experienced in the behest of Srilankans and Chinese-may not be tomorrow, but not very far.
The present pyre of national struggle in Kashmir, turned even the staunch nationalist like Omar Abdullah dare against India and luminaries like Arunthathi Roy, put forth  the freedom struggle to the international forums.
Arundhathi roy’s statement is pretty praise worthy.
“Pity the nation that needs to jail those who ask for justice, while communal killers, mass murderers, corporate scamsters, looters, rapists, and those who prey on the poorest of the poor, roam free."
Stop getting tranquilised by the Nationalism. Stop getting muffled by it. Stop viewing government designed enemies as your enemies. The attachment of a citizen towards his nation is justified if the nation considers him at least a human being. In the contrary, if the nation on its imperialist motive, consider its citizen as just a vote, where is the point of nationalism?
Understand the governance that India is doing. You don’t need to rebel! At least, understand that the national flag that you pin on your kids’ shirt on Independence day is dipped with the blood of Kashmiris, assamese and dying tamil fishermen!
All will be on their course!!!

"You're not to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it."

CENTRAL EXCISE DAY- THE 24th FEBRUARY

The logo is no way used in Official Capacity

Today the February 24th is celebrated as Central Excise Day by the Central Excise department.  The day marks enactment of the Central Excise Act  in 1944. Indirect taxes, in India had been a major contributor to the Gross Domestic Product. To say it right, Indirect taxes are the mainstay of India’s tax system. The central excise duty, leviable on the production or manufacture of goods ranging from aerated waters to zip fasteners, had been the single most important source of revenue, accounting for about one-third of consolidated (the Central, State and Union Territory Government) tax revenues and about one-fourth of current revenues. Ten major commodities (e.g., crude oil, motor spirit, cement) currently account for 52.6% of the total central excise duty collections.
Of the indirect taxes, the Service Tax have exceeded the excise collection for the past few years. Service sector has enormous potential of tax collection. In the year 2010-11, the Central Excise and Service Tax contribute about 18% and 48% of the GDP respectively.
The Ministry have hiked the Central Excise from 8% advalorem to 10% with effect from 27th Feb,2010. On looking at the tax income, contribution of Central Excise is on the lower side. The reason may be various.
It is better if the ministry brings down the rate of excise duty and increases its tax base. In most of the industrially developed nations, the rate of excise duty is far less than the Indian rate of duty, but the number of assessees and duty compliance are at the high end. These measures will, in the long run, result in increased tax base and tax collection. (The bell curve-inverse ‘U’).

Steps may be taken by the  Ministry of Finance
1.         To bring about uniform rate of duty to majority of the goods manufactured, avoiding the plethora of exemptions and concessions except most essential commodities, medical commodities according to its merit.
2.      To ensure minimum rate of duty for the manufactured products to achieve better tax compliance. This measure could lead to the increased production, increased number of industries, increased employment opportunities and obviously increased share of Excise duty in the GDP.
3.      Spending a little more for developing the infrastructure of the department. A little increase in the operational cost of the tax collection could result in better and efficient tax collection. For example, constructing Office buildings, providing required stationeries, effective implementation of ACES system which connects all the Commissionerates and the Ministry.
4.      Avoiding biasness among its Offices- For example, the infrastructure bestowed to the Large Taxpayer Unit Commisonerates is more than required whereas the conventional commisionerates and Divisions sometimes officiate in rented buildings
5.      Keep vigil in the functioning of Commisionerate Offices and ensure corruption free tax collection.
The steps are quite easy to pronounce, and tough in practicality. Still, result of the measures would be, the increased tax collection-increased allocation and increased standard of living of people; Grossly.

I extend all my greetings and my salutes to the Sentinels of Economic Front of India on this Central Excise Day

A Reply to the comment on 'WHAT THE HELL'

I received an fierce, rather angry comment on the article titled ‘What the hell?’.  You can have a look at it, clicking the comment link below the article.

1.    Comment
When a person goes to another country, they have to follow the rules of that country. Indians have a problem of taking everything personally very soon. They make it a matter of pride even when its not required. Wouldn't the Indian govt. do something of the same sort if they did not want people from some other country to disappear. Of-course, the Indian govt does not have a budget to radio collar people, and secondly, even if they did have a budget, it would still be impossible for them to keep a track of all the illegal immigrants coming into India everyday. Weather its from countries like Burma, or Bangladesh or Srilanka or Nepal.
2.        As far as your comment on sexual maturity of the kids in the US is concerned, I really do not understand how was that related to the main topic??? Or do you think kids in India do not reach sexual maturity or aren't sexually active till they turn 16-17??? Or are you still living in denial???
3.        If they have condom machines on campus, then maybe you should appreciate them on taking steps to stop STDs and more specifically AIDS. Or maybe you dont know that the age of consent for sex in some states in a country like India is 12years?
4.       Indian school and colleges teach things that are obsolete, things which most students never make use of in their entire life. Maybe thats why , engineering students in India are studying MBA, and those with an MBA, work in a sector which has nothing to do with MBA. Why the misdirection? Studying abroad is lucrative because a foreign degree will get you an edge in the jobs market anywhere in the world. And isnt that what everyone wants? A better chance than the others in today's competitive, cut throat world??
5.       As far as the quality of education is concerned, countries like USA have institutions like MIT, Harvard which contribute to the nation as well, apart from educating people. What have institutions like IIMs and IITs done for India? Except for contributing to the rat race, suicides, and increasing their tuition fees manyfold???

Open your eyes, and come out of the denial you are living in.

Dear Friend,
I am bound to answer on the anonymous comment. I have to separate the accusations first.

1.     No doubt, the migrants have to follow the laws of the land. But my friend, there is a law above all the laws-that is natural law. Natural law includes human rights also. I am not talking about luxurious Human Rights. How can you justify a state imposing radio collars for migrated students? Are they criminals with any previous records? That’s what you wanna say? If that’s the case I would support the tracking. The immigration have to be controlled to keep the social balance. But no country chains its immigrants. They may be watched-like how we do with the Srilankan refugees, but not like this. Simple solution is this-collect their biometric data (like finger prints-body fluid samples etc) and catch them if something happens.

2.      About the sexual maturity of the children- I wrote that ‘99 out of 100 sexually excel before they enter eighth grade’.   I was talking about the cultural decay of the western society. I don’t actually subscribe to the ‘CULTURAL’ crap. I am no fascist. But my friend, Sex is a hidden treasure. One can explore and enjoy sex completely at the end of teenage. This is biologically proven fact. I don’t deny  what you said on Indian sexual maturity.
I read, heard a lot about Indian urges. But couldn’t you see a smokescreen in Indian sexuality? It is hardly ‘see through’. But in the western societies nothing is hidden. Nothing is glorified. Divorces, rapes, early pregnancies (Papa! Don’t preach-Madonna in eighties), adulteries. Talk closely, to an American return. You will come to know (Presuming you are an Indian, and never visited west).
Please don’t you worry about whether am I still on denial or not. This is a little too personal. Don’t you think? You actually touched my ego asking the 'denial' question.

3.          I admit that the condom vending machines are actually good. You will find one in JNU, New Delhi also. One thing I ask you dear! Is abstinence so bad? I am telling to abstain from sex till you find your best partner and preferably after you got married. The lovemaking should turn the love into a baby. (Watch the movie ‘17 again’- I  reproduced the dialogue of the lead actor in his classroom on ‘Human Sexuality’).
About the age of consent- you are not clear. Are you talking about India or some other countries? Laws are man-made. In the beginning of this reply, I told about natural law. It is above all the laws.  If you be the law maker, you can even let your people mate at the age of 5.

4.    4. Obsolete education-
When India in was nuclear isolation, couldn’t we achieve a Fast breeder reactor? Couldn’t we excel the PWHRs? ISRO was started, when America claimed that they have landed the moon. Couldn’t we achieve chandraayan? Which professor took classes to our Indian scientists?
Yes! American Universities impart better education than anywhere else. But why to go there? All the foreign universities are coming to India. The universities bill was passed in our legislative houses.
You are talking about the cut-throat world. So you also wanna be one of ‘em. Don’t you?
MBA is a course teaching how to suck blood of the labour class without them feeling pain- a study of leech business. I don’t include the MBA (HR). Just think over it. You will understand. It seems your justification for studying in foreign universities, is money ,not  education.
MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!
In 1870, the disparity between the most developed and the least was 1:5 in all parameters. In 1990 it was 1:45. In the span of 120 years (from 1870 to 1990), the disparities between haves and have-nots grown 9 times. All because of the crazy race of the world for money. Money is equaled to labour. This equation lost its meaning in the crazy race. (Try reading the ‘Theory of Surplus’ by Marx).
5.                                                                                                                                                                            5. What IITs have done?
My dear! Where are you?  Go to the industrial clusters of Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Kolkata, and Mumbai-Surat conurbation. The IITians are doing great job for the country’s industrial development. I know many people from IITs running Million dollar industries and contributing excise duty.No comments on IIMs.

I still don’t deny the American universities’ contribution for America's progress.

You are very worried about a few suicides in the IITs and IIMs. I am worried about the  suicides of one lakh goddamn lives in 5 years. All peasants. In the strangle of money lenders, of banks, with no credit facility one lakh peasants were dead. Ask a loan for a car-you will get instantly. Try the same for a cow. You will come to know. The number one lakh, is more than the number of dead bodies in three Indo-Pakistan wars.

If they increase the fees of IIMs and IITs, boycott it. Study the same in a REC or any other govt college. I have talked to a few IIMians and IITians and understood how hollow they are.

My dear friend! I am talking the truth it is always bitter! My eyes are wide open, friend! I keep them wide till I shed tears! Again I keep them wide!
Read a bit more! Diversify your readings! Go back to your moral books what you studied in school! My morals may not suit to your ‘cut-throat world’. But morals are morals. Its not necessary for one to be in denial to advocate morals. If you want only to argue and oppose my opinions-as you wish. If you wanna understand the truth, try searching it.

I welcome your comments not as anonymous-but with your mail id.

Note:
Please do not think me a NATIONALIST with this reply. Actually I am not.

SOME SAY IT IS WRONG

My wishes to you all on this Valentine's day. We meet after a long time. Personally I am not favoring Valentine's day. Am I really against it? or do I support it? Frankly, I am a little confused. Today is celebrated as the day of love. Very well. In fact all the days are the days of love. isn't it?

Fr.Valentine, who was a clergy man supported the love marriages in the then backward western society. Some say, he himself loved a woman and fought against the nun rulings of the church. whatever it was! Today, the February 14th is celebrated as the lovers' day.

The day is celebrated for the love between a male and a female, not of a siblings'- not of a sibling relations- but of a kinda love that's between grown adults tends to create offspring.

Lemme come straight! I strongly support animals and animal's instincts cos that' seems more true to me. Man is a socialised animal. I think the socialisation is the main cause of troubles of the mankind.

The attraction of male into a female and vice versa is just spindled by the harmone secretions. More the harmone More the love.  More the love more the lovemaking. More the lovemaking more the love/children. This is a vicious cycle.

I have an opinion on valentine's day! The true symbolising of love will be ascertained only when the gender equality is achieved, Castes are abolished, caste fanatics are dead, religious traders are out, everyone educated, equality in means of production and socio-economic life etc. Before those are achieved, the celebration of love seems pretty VULGAR to me. It means a doggy style ceremony to me.

LOVERS PLEASE EXCUSE!!!

WHAT THE HELL?

Indian students studying in Tri-Valley University are radio collared to monitor their movements. Believe me; India is planning to radio collar the Tigers. To monitor their movements and preservation. Now we are following the ‘punch holes’ method. In American prisons you will find radio colloring. The inmates of the prisons are strapped with an irremovable radio collars. It is helpful to trace them within the premises or in the event of great escape.
Have you seen ‘Casino Royale’- Bond movie? You will come to know what is radio collaring.
Indian Students' Plight is nevertheless than this
I want to ask a question to Indian parents. WHAT THE HELL DID YOU FIND IN UNIVERSITIES ABROAD?
70 out of 100 American youth cannot understand headlines and the context of a Newspaper!
99 out of 100 sexually excel before they enter eighth grade. You will find condom vending machines in all the high school.
YES!
American professors win Nobel. What your kid can learn from a Nobel won professor. Most of the Nobel laureates are worst teachers! Dear parents! America is falling in its educational standards whereas India and China is rising as intellectual powers.
A friend of mine went to Australia to study ‘Event management’. He was a drop out for one or the other reason. He could not settle down till now. I always tell him had he studied a simple BA degree in India, he would have the qualification to write some government exams-at least!!
Radio collaring of students is an outrageous step by an educational institution. This is done only to Indian students- Of course the university is full of them.
This event reminds me the act of apartheid South Africa against the immigrants. The apartheid South African government ordered the immigrants to carry their registration certificate failing which they would have to face imprisonment. Gandhi organized sathyagraha against it –the government repealed the act.
The external ministry reacted vehemently but short lived. SM Krishna finds it as a local law. See this! See the plight of Indian students!! How funny?! Indian foul cries will not resolve the issue. Indians should understand the educational potential of India. Parents should wither the pride educating their children in an alien developed country.

Heroism of Taj Staff

Mumbai Terror attacks! We all know how terrifying it was. Over 300 people were killed in that episode.
Terror attacks are not new to India. We have been experiencing this menace since our independence.

I have already discussed that the terror attacks are not only the terrifying attacks by some aliens. It includes the internal disturbances (like Maoists, Secessionist forces, Religious riots-Hindus and Muslims) and most importantly Maladministration.

Let us talk about the topic.

The Harward Business school is researching on the behaviour of the Taj staff at the crisis hours. A dozen employees died in their heroic action of protecting their guests. Jeopardising their safety, the staff stayed in the Hotel to save their guests. The HBS students could not understand the psychie of the staff. Neither the senior managers of Taj. It is the natural instinct to flee out. Isn't it?

Stop here!
1. Would the Taj employee have helped some poor man who was an employee in the same hotel-was being assaulted-at his last moment?
2. Would they have helped a man at his last moment who had not been a guest because of no vacancy in the hotel?
3. is it right to presume that you should be rich to get yourself saved in your last moment?

AM I THINKING NEGATIVE? AM I WRONG?

I adore the sacrifice of the Taj staff. But am I wrong in asking my above questions?

RSS and Hindutva Terrorism

The arrest of swamy Aseemanand throws light on the terrorist links of Rashtriya Swayamsewak sangh. It revealed the RSS links with the bomb blasts in Malegaon, Mecca Masjid, Ajmir Sharif and the blast in Samjhauta Express in February 2007, left 68 dead.
Swamy Aseemanand alias Sandeep Dange alias Paramanand alias Ramchandra Kalsangra alias Vishnu patel (Phhrrr… Breathless) holds prime position and responsibility in the RSS. The movement was formed as a Child organization of Hindu Mahasabha in 1925. We can say that RSS is the militant wing of Hindu Mahasabha. It preaches Hinduism, and hatred towards other religions particularly Islam. The spread of hatred messages mostly indirect in nature, and at the event of tensions, frontally.
RSS preaches for consolidation of varna system. It is a narcistical organization. You can notice some kind of pleasure on the face of any member of RSS when they utter the word ‘terrorism’. Because in the next sentence itself, you may notice, he will use the word ‘Muslim Terrorist’. He finds pleasure when linking Muslim people with terrorism. When speaking about varna system, initially they may seem to be against it. But they will end up in justifying in Varna system. This is the character of 99.999999% of RSS members. No doubt this is because of the speeches and preaches in the RSS meetings.  (I don’t deny that the hidden hatred teachings in madarasas also,Though).
The other accused Ashok also has many other names. Amit, Prince, Sunny, Ashwini, Ashwini Chauhan etc. The National Investigation Agency have come to picture for investigating the crimes.
The RSS have many educational institutions, tuition centres, coaching centres etc. In all their institutions hatred teachings on other religions, particularly Islam and on dalits within the Hindus are disseminated directly or indirectly. If we tape the sessions of their classes in each of the institutions secretly, we will come to know.
When I was in studying in Delhi, a group of Hindu eccentrics were my classmates. They use to dress, and wear hindu symbols openly. They claimed themselves to be extreme RSS sympathizers.  When our results were declared, 5 out of the group cleared the exam and they are in key positions in the Government. I hope, they still do not continue showing their sympathy to RSS. But, I don’t believe they have come to normal.

Stealth is a technology of invisibility. The stealth technology is very important in military. The first stealth aircraft, ever commissioned in the world, is the F-22 Raptor of United States of America. It is a dream technology. The flight is the fifth generation one, ie, with supersonic speed and of course, with stealth technology.

China, yesterday has announced its first successful flight of its stealth aircraft CHENGDU J-20 and its probable induction into air force in next 8 years.

Let us discuss about Stealth technology. The stealth aircrafts evade detection by RADARs. RADARs, normally use the cosmic radiation, or micro waves to detect the flying objects over a particular geographical area. The obstruction caused by the flying objects on the path of the microwaves, cause the waves to reflect, and the reflection is observed by the ground station of the RADAR.  With the time duration of the wave reflection, we can calculate the speed of the flying object, altitude, its path etc and accordingly we can initiate our defence mechanisms.

The objects with stealth technology evade the RADARs by not showing any obstruction in the beam of waves. Is it possible? It is actually impossible because, to evade the detection the aircraft should be transparent, like glass. If the flying object absorb all the radiation, still it may look like a dark spot in the RADAR monitor.

Therefore the outer walls of the aircraft is covered by micro bumps. (like you find them, when you purchase a Fridge, or TV, as it is covered by plastic sheets with air bumps). The bumps will scatter the incoming radiation, so that the ground station may not receive the obstruction signal. The bumps are designed so that to scatter the incidental waves upwards.  The outer wall is coated with a special paint which absorbs some of the radiation.

But these technologies are not sufficient to achieve stealth. It is completely achieved when he flying object sways at supersonic speeds. These days, USA is researching on stealth of earth movers also, Tanks.

India, also claims that it has achieved 60% of stealth of flying objects. We may reach this feet very soon. Anyway, let us congratulate China for its first successful stealth flight.

Chinese Threat along line of Actual Control

It has been reported that the Projects of BRO and other public works were stalled temporarily upon Chinese threat along the LAC. The Border Roads Organization along with the paramilitary forces is engaged in building roads along the Indian borders.
The problem of LAC, occupation by the Chinese army of Aksai Chin has a history of 60 years. When it was reported the then Prime Minister Nehru persuaded Mr. SuEnLoi, the then Chinese premier for the eviction of Chinese troops from Indian lands, which Mr. Loi accepted. But, the army was never removed from our land. On the Chinese efforts of occupation of Tawang monastery, Arunachal Pradesh, Nehru gladly offered the Aksai Chin province stating that the land is not worth of a single blade of grass.
Aksai- Chin is very important to China because it provides route from Tibet to Xin xiang Uiygur. There is no other connectivity to Uiygur.
The territory of Jammu and Kashmir according to the instrument of accession signed by maharaja Hari singh includes Aksai Chin province also. Therefore, the claim of china on Aksai chin and the enclaves of middle sector is unjustifiable. Around 38,000 square km. of Aksai Chin is in possession of China. The Indian New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP) covers the complete territory of India including LOC. It is believed that the mineral wealth of Aksai Chin is enormous. India cannot afford to give up the Aksai chin province to China. The territorial disputes, at least Aksai chin and the middle sectors should be resolved purely bilaterally. Sooner the wisdom, better it would be.
